*In 1997 I relocated to Seattle for a brand management position in Nordstrom's private label division. In 2001, nearly 5 years later, I left the corporate environment again to seek new challenges aligned with my best skills: creativity, ideation, unconventional problem-solving.
I founded heather lowe DESIGN in 2001: a small business with the mission to enhance urban space using new-to-market, innovative methods. hlD specialized in offering institutions affordable, custom, grand scale, digital art prints for interior design - a completely new service fostered by the introduction of large format printers. See Visual Art Innovation ~ The company also explored computer-generated design applications for exterior building environments. See Art Institute of Seattle ~ In 2007, global events utilizing high-tech projection and special effects lighting inspired me to develop a plan for Seattle to spark new urban energy and increase tourism. . An art-light concept was proposed to the Port of Seattle in 2007/2008 for Pier 86 on Elliott Bay. See Pier 86 Art + Light ~ In 2009/10 the proposal was expanded to a major event named AURA that included 15 sites around the city. We were unable to raise the necessary sponsorship capital during the great recession. The concept lives on "virtually" at the ENLIGHTEN seattle website. Tampa, FL;Portland,OR and Baltimore now have almost identical, successful festivals.
